Forum on Contemporary Theory Archive
Forum on Contemporary Theory
Materials preserved in archives have historical, evidentiary, informational, fiscal, administrative, and legal value for any educational institution. Recently, on January 11, 2017, the Forum on Contemporary Theory (FCT) Archive in Baroda was formally inaugurated by Simon Gikandi, Robert Schirmer Professor of English at Princeton University. We have procured advice from archival experts and experienced professionals and have designed custom-made fiber boxes that are air-, water-, and light-proof in which to keep hard copies of our archive intact and damage free. While compiling the archive, we have come across rare and exclusive documents and communications, some of them dating back to 1989 when the Forum started in the humble premises of the Seminar Room of the Department of English at The Maharaja Sayajirao University of Baroda. The hard copy archive of the FCT is up to date until the year 2016, and we look forward to completing a searchable, online digital archive that will enable FCT’s work to attain greater outreach. We hope that our unique materials can be used as primary sources by researchers and academic administrators in tracing the history and evolution of the Forum.
