NEXOS: Critical Theory and Interdisciplinary Research

NEXOS: Critical Theory and Interdisciplinary Research is a network for research and collective thinking founded in 2014. Our aim is to establish collaborations and partnerships across regional, national and international spheres in order to produce methodological and theoretical knowledge in critical theory. NEXOS includes four inter-institutional research groups in Northeast, Midwest/North, Southeast and South Brazil, connecting local, regional and national research developed by professors, researchers, undergraduate and graduate students in all five regions of the country. For each group, a coordinator manages local/regional research while involving the entire network. The work from each region provides a map of social, political and cultural expressions in current Brazilian context, establishing a greater integration between academic research and the production of knowledge in social theory in the country. The network comprises diverse academics with expertise in such fields as philosophy, psychology, pedagogy, anthropology, political science, architecture, arts, science fiction, neuroscience, and physics. In November 2016, the NEXOS organized its first international meeting. It is led by four professors from Brazilian public universities:

NEXOS-Northeast: Deborah Christina Antunes (, Professor of Social Psychology, Federal University of Ceará, Sobral

NEXOS-Midwest/North: Isabella Fernanda Ferreira (, Professor of Sociology and Philosophy of Education, Federal University of Mato Grosso do Sul, Corumba

NEXOS-Southeast: Marilia Mello Pisani (, Professor of Philosophy at the Center of Natural Sciences and Humanities, Federal University of ABC, São Bernardo do Campo, SP
