Theory from Africa

University of Witwatersrand

Theory from Africa is a a workshop on knowledge from the Global South and doing theory from Africa which will run from 2017-2021 at the Centre for Indian Studies in Africa, University of Witwatersrand. The workshops will run for a week in August every year and will provide fully funded spaces for seven graduates/young academics from universities in Africa. Every year there will be three distinguished resource persons working on or from theory in the global south (broadly Asia, Africa, Latin America, and the Caribbean) to engage with the attendees. Profs Gurminder Bhambhra (Warwick), Clapperton Mavhunga (MIT), Walter Mignolo (Duke) and Anthony Bogue (Brown) are associated with the workshops.
