Birkbeck Institute for the Humanities

University of London

Birkbeck Institute for the Humanities (BIH) aims to engage with important public issues of our time and foster a climate of interdisciplinary research and collaboration among academics and researchers. BIH is the main forum for intellectual debate in Central London. It was founded in 2004 and has become a major hub for critical and cultural theory activity. The Institute organizes lectures, conferences, masterclasses, it admits three stipendiary and a number of unpaid fellows every year. A high point of the Institute’s activities is the critical theory summer school, which takes place every year in the first two weeks of July.
