Centre for Indian Studies in Africa
University of Witwatersrand
The Centre for Indian Studies in Africa was established in 2010 with funding from the Mellon Foundation and has had funding renewed until 2020. We fund Masters by research and Ph.D.s in the areas of South Asia-Africa connections and knowledge from the Global South. We have held international conferences on historical capitalism, concepts from the Global South, and post-national narratives. Starting in 2017 (until 2021), we will also sponsor workshops for graduates from African universities on doing theory from Africa.
