Das IfS beherbergt Gastwissenschaftler innen sowie Doktorand innen aus dem In- und Ausland. Allerdings kann das Institut keine Forschungsgelder und Stipendien vergeben. Die Gäste und die Doktorand_innen müssen deshalb ihre eigene Finanzierung mitbringen; das Institut stellt ihnen einen gut ausgestatteten Arbeitsplatz sowie den Zugang zu den Bibliotheken zur Verfügung. Kriterien einer Aufnahme sind die inhaltliche Nähe zu Forschungsfragen des Instituts und damit die Möglichkeit einer sinnvollen inhaltlichen Einbindung, eigene Kooperationsinteressen sowie die Förderung des wissenschaftlichen Nachwuchses.
The Institut für Sozialforschung (Institute for Social Research) hosts visiting researchers and doctoral students from Germany and abroad. However, the Institute is not in a position to award any research grants or scholarships. Guest scholars and doctoral students must therefore bring their own funding. The Institute provides them with a well-equipped workplace as well as access to libraries. Criteria for acceptance include the relevance of the applicant’s research questions to the Institute’s work and thus the possibility of meaningful integration of the content of this research, the applicant’s collaborative interests, as well as supporting the careers of young academics.
