Center for Advanced Studies of Southeastern Europe Fellowship

Inspired by the cooperation of previous generations of fellows at the Center for Advanced Studies of Southeastern Europe (CAS-SEE) and building on the work that has led to the creation of thematic working groups run by the fellows at CAS-SEE, the Center will support the creation of smaller groups of fellows working on similar topics (or different aspects of one particular topic). CAS-SEE Fellows will present their work on a bi-weekly basis in Rijeka or other regional centers and will engage more intensively in research in the wider region of Southeastern Europe. All fellows will spend first two weeks of the fellowship at CAS-SEE premises in Rijeka. One group of fellows will then be able to spend the rest of the fellowship period elsewhere in the region, while attending regular CAS-SEE regional conferences and seminars. By implementing such a flexible regional approach while maintaining the spirit of the CAS-SEE Collegium, the fellows will create new synergies within the Collegium while also pursuing their research, drawing on the support of wide networks of other scholars and partner institutions in the region to enrich their work.

For 2017, we invite applications focused on two topics in particular: “Making Inclusive Cities: Towards Participatory Governance Practices” and “Critical Theory.” Please see our web site for more information and a current call for fellows.
